📖 THE BIBLE STORY
This song is based on the book of Jonah. God told Jonah to go to the
city of Nineveh, but Jonah went the other way. When Jonah was in the
sea, God sent a great fish to rescue him — the fish wasn't a punishment,
it was God's kindness keeping him safe.
Jesus said Jonah's three days and nights were a sign pointing to Him:
"For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great
fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart
of the earth." — Matthew 12:40
Jonah's story ends with God's mercy — for Jonah, for the whole city,
and for us.
